2collab and ScienceDirect

ScienceDirect now has an integrated link to 2collab - a social bookmarking tool from Elsevier (publishers of ScienceDirect and Scopus). Elsevier promises integrated links from other databases in future.

  • 2collab is a free tool to mange and store references.

  • Layered on top is a group structure. You can join groups and share, review or rate references.

  • An integrated link ScienceDirect imports all the necessary bibliographic data into 2collab.

  • 2collab allows you to create a profile and to communicate with other 2collab users.

  • 2collab can export bookmarks as an RIS file which can be imported into EndNote.

  • 2collab can be added as a link to Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
  • .

2collab is designed to work with Elsevier's Scopus and ScienceDirect products in the same way EndNote Web is designed to work with Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Knowledge. However, they are very different. 2collab has its roots in social bookmarking software and EndNote Web in reference management software. EndNote Web handles references well 2collab has better group and sharing functions and is easier to use to capture data from the internet. As data can be exchanged between them by using RIS files to export from one and import to another you might use both for their respective strengths.

Note - Bournemouth University does not currently subscribe to Scopus.
